All Saints Day & All Souls Day

what is your tradition? or belief?

many have come to believe that All Saints Day commemorates the departed who have attained beatific vision – passed free of sin

& that All Souls Day commemorates the departed who have not attained beatific vision – passed with venial or mortal sin – hence interceding with prayer to rescue souls in purgatory

The custom of setting apart a special day of intercession for certain of the faithful departed is so ancient that many legends are associated with the celebration & with the efficacy of prayer – whether pre-Hispanic Aztec belief or Celtic philosophy or medieval European ritual.
